The hot topic of discussion recently has been about teeth falling out!
We have a few children with wiggly teeth, and Carmella just lost her first tooth!
There have been many ideas put forwards about what happens after teeth fall out...  the tooth fairy has been the main idea - it seems that the tooth fairy brings different items to different children.

The children wanted to find out more - so we read 'I lost my tooth in Africa'... it seems in Africa you get a chicken for your tooth. Since none of us have received a chicken before - we kept on looking.
We then found a book called 'Throw your tooth on the roof' by Selby Beeler.
This books told us about tooth traditions from around the world.
It was a great book, and the children came to the conclusion that many different things happen to teeth.. some people even throw them on the roof!

Carmella brought in a book about the human body... and we had fun reading about all the different parts, especially about how the teeth fit into the skull!
We also found out that losing a tooth does not hurt all that much - thanks to Carmella who explained the whole process! This has put many children's minds at ease!

We are now looking forward to when our first teeth fall out! (except Ms Aini and Jenney who would very much like to keep their adult teeth!)
